Update on Maryland Pit Bull Case.
The Maryland Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court, issued their ruling on pit bulls and pit bull mixes back in April and still that decision is not yet law. The decision, which distinguished pit bulls or pit bull mixes from other breeds and placed greater liability on dog owners and landlords who permit tenants to have them, quickly compelled some landlords to begin eviction proceedings against tenants with pit bulls or pit bull mixes. Maryland High Court Sets New Liability Standard for Pit Bulls Attacks
The Court of Appeals of Maryland recently ruled that pit bulls are extremely dangerous and owners can be held strictly liable for injuries caused by their pit bulls. The opinion includes holding strictly liable landlords who rent to pit bulls owners and know that the dogs are pit bulls or pit bull mixes. The Court heard arguments in Tracey v.
